Dear friends,
This is an exciting day! Open Theater Workshop is now accepting proposals for our 2027-2027 season of programming. We are looking for scripts in the public domain that can either be performed as-is or adapted for performance. You can also submit your existing adaptation of a play in the public domain, if you have one.
Proposals will be considered by a committee including myself (Sarah) and several artists who have participated in our first two productions.
Plays that are viable for OTW may be selected for readings, workshops, and/or productions. Plays we are interested in that are not realized in 2027-2028 will be considered for future seasons. Authors of successful proposals will be invited to have a conversation with the advising committee to discuss the potential for workshops, readings, or productions. Following these meetings, the team will create a plan of programming for OTW’s upcoming season. All respondents will be notified when plays have been selected.
Note that we are currently accepting proposals only from individuals who have participated in Open Theater Workshop programming. Also remember that all proposed scripts should be available in the public domain. This includes the English translation, if you are proposing a play not originally written in English!
In order to submit a proposal, just fill out the form at this URL: https://forms.gle/
All the questions are on one page, so you can preview the entire form before submitting. And before you submit the form, double check that you’ve uploaded or included a link to your chosen script. The form is open NOW and will close on Monday, November 2nd!
If you have questions, difficulties with the form, or want to discuss ideas before committing to a proposal, send an email to sarah@opentheaterworkshop.org and I’ll get back to you soon.
